
Dimitrios Tigkas
Dimitrios Tigkas is a board-certified neurologist and, since 2025, the owner of his private neurology practice ALTAmed Frankfurt. He began his academic training at the University of Patras, where he completed his medical studies. He then pursued his specialization in neurology in Hesse, Germany. During his training, he already demonstrated a strong interest in the treatment of migraines and headache disorders.
From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Tigkas served as a senior physician and deputy head of the Neurology Department at the Parkinson Center in Bad Schwalbach. From 2022 to 2024, he worked as a specialist at Germany's first migraine clinic in Königstein, where he further focused on the treatment of migraines and headache disorders. He is currently a senior physician at the rehabilitation clinic in Bad Orb while simultaneously treating his outpatient clients at his private practice in Frankfurt.
In addition to his medical studies, his academic background includes work in the field of pharmacology at the renowned Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna. He obtained his medical license in Greece in 2010 and his German medical license (Approbation) from the Government of Upper Bavaria in 2011.
Mr. Tigkas speaks four languages: Greek, German, English, and Italian. He is an active member of several professional societies, including the German Society for Neurology (DGN), the German Migraine and Headache Society (DMKG), and the International Headache Society (IHS).
His clinical focus lies particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of migraines, headaches, and other neurological conditions.
Since early 2024, Herr Tigkas has been affiliated with the European University Cyprus (EUC) in Frankfurt as an external associate. In this capacity, he serves as a visiting lecturer, primarily delivering courses in Neuroanatomy. His teaching approach combines academic rigor with practical medical insights, bridging theoretical foundations and clinical application.
